On September 16, Maine’s First Ship’s reconstruction of the pinnace Virginia was damaged while heading down the Kennebec through Bath. It appears the bridge platform on the Carlton Bridge was not fully raised, and her topmast struck the deck. Through sheer coincidence I happened to be photographing her at the time & I had no idea I was capturing the incident.

According to MFS’s own statement, no one was hurt and the Coast Guard will be conducting an investigation. I’ve decided to make this post to share my photo, and I am happy to provide the original (un-watermarked and un-cropped) photo with the USCG.
